This past weekend, the Overlee Flying Fish traveled to McLean Swim and Tennis club for the second meet of the summer season. Heading into the meet, we predicted a 70 point victory for Overlee based on depth of swimmers; however, those expectations were vastly outperformed. Overlee picked up points they were not seeded to win throughout the morning, securing the victory before the relay portion of the meet. In the end, Overlee defeated McLean 256-164! In every age group, swimmers in all three lanes looked to be in much better condition and race ready. When there was a swimmer in a tight race, it felt as though each swim was falling our way, as the kids in the orange caps consistently out touched the competitor in the lane next to them. The 11-12 age group, which looked to have the toughest day across the board coming into the meet, managed to come up with big swims in both the boys and girls events, which added to the point spread, but more importantly provided a surge in momentum, which the older swimmers absolutely fed off of. With family and friends in town for Independence Day weekend, the Boosters had plenty to cheer about–see a few of the race videos from the meet below!
